About Renewal Lab

Built for the people who fall through the cracks.

We exist because the space between clinical care and traditional fitness fails too many people. Renewal Lab was built to close that gap — with real expertise, direct communication, and strength that adapts to your reality.

Strength shouldn't require permission.

Renewal Lab started with a simple observation: people navigating complex health challenges — chronic illness, women's health, injury recovery, major life transitions — are underserved by the wellness industry. They're too complex for most gyms and too functional for most clinics. They fall through the cracks — or suffer in silence.

We built Renewal Lab to be the thing that should already exist. A place where clinical credibility meets practical fitness. Where your history informs your training instead of disqualifying you from it. Where setbacks aren't failures — they're data.

Based in Charlotte, NC with a hybrid coaching model, we work with clients who are ready to stop waiting for someone to understand what they're going through — and start building strength that actually fits their life.

We don't do vague promises.

Resilience over perfection

We build strength that bends without breaking. Progress isn't linear, and your training shouldn't pretend it is. We plan for flares, bad days, and the reality of living with a chronic condition.

Transparency over comfort

We tell you what's working and what isn't. No vague encouragement, no wellness platitudes. Honest feedback, clear communication, and pricing you can see before you commit.

Capability over dependency

The goal is your independence, not a permanent coaching subscription. We build your knowledge and confidence so you can own your training — and know when to ask for help.

Martin Michaelson

Chief Wellness Director

Martin brings over 25 years of experience in strategy, innovation, and performance transformation to Renewal Lab, backed by a track record of building and advising multiple startup and growth-stage ventures.

A certified personal trainer and nutrition consultant, he combines evidence-based training with resilience-focused coaching to help clients turn complex health challenges into practical paths toward lasting strength and independence.

Martin also serves in leadership roles within the cancer support community, including board service with nonprofits supporting individuals and families navigating cancer treatment and survivorship. That experience directly shapes Renewal Lab's empathy-first approach to coaching and recovery — and the conviction that no one should have to figure this out alone.

We're growing.

We're always open to connecting with practitioners who share our philosophy. If you work at the intersection of clinical care and practical fitness — and believe that no one should have to figure their health out alone — we'd like to hear from you.
